In the process, they hope to share God’s love and witness the transformation of underprivileged communities. Partners has been working with Dariya Development since 2010, helping to expand their ministry reach and strengthen their team through leadership training and mentoring.

Dariya works in an Islamic republic in Central Asia. Its population is made up of a complex medley of people groups with wide diversity in regard to caste, language, and culture. However, one uniting factor is a common religion–Islam. Nearly 96 percent of the people are Muslims.

An environment of Muslim fundamentalism, coupled with heavy restrictions and penalties for outspoken believers, make this country one of the most challenging missions environments in the world. The existing indigenous Church has emerged from the lowest castes of society, and strong cultural and religious boundaries exist between the Christian minority and Muslim majority. Economically, the situation is just as harsh. Feudal landlords dominate large sections of land were indebted laborers work on farms or brickyards for very low pay. More than 50 percent of the nation’s people live in poverty.
