Christian Outreach Fellowship, Ghana
The vision of Christian Outreach Fellowship (COF) is to share the Gospel and plant churches among the unreached people of Ghana and greater West Africa. Since their founding, they have planted more than 600 churches, and today COF is the largest, most successful, and most well-known church-planting ministry in Ghana. Recognizing that COF is advantageously positioned to advance the Gospel throughout the entire region, since 1994 Partners has invested in the expansion of COF’s church-planting efforts, ministry sustainability programs, leadership training, and development programs for marginalized women and children.

Ghana is a small nation of 26 million people located on Africa’s western coast. Though Ghana has a rich Christian heritage and about 60 percent of Ghana’s people are Christian, many Ghanaians are strongly influenced by animism and witchcraft. Most of Ghana’s Christians live in the south, and today northern Ghana is the least reached and least developed area of the nation.
Unlike many of its neighbors such as Ivory Coast, Ghana is seen as a haven of peace and stability in a politically turbulent region. As a result, Ghana has made significant strides in infrastructure development in comparison to other countries. However, in the rural areas, particularly in northern Ghana, disease, illiteracy, and poverty are significant challenges. About half of the workforce is engaged in agricultural jobs, yet nearly 80% of Ghana’s people survive on less than two dollars per day.
