“I will sing of your strength; in the morning I will sing of your love. For you are my fortress, my refuge in time of trouble.” Psalm 59:16

Dear family and friends,

During this time of my life, that verse has been the song of my soul, when you have lost your beloved after 36 years the only real thing that can comfort you is our Lord’s word. Over the last six months, since Emma left us, I have been thanking God for his words, for the family, and for friends who he has given to us all to draw strength from. I want to thank all of you who have been tools in his hand to bring comfort to us.

In the past few months, I have had the privilege to participate in four discipleship training conferences, mostly with “new believers” from our ministry. With the help of other servants of the Lord, we shared the word of God to them and also celebrated the baptism of 7 believers who we have been working with for over two years.

We often hesitate to baptize very young believers. It is a big moment, representative of an incredible commitment that will bring many challenges in their home country. We have seen the struggles that they will face in the experiences of others and how difficult it can be for those just starting to develop and without a solid foundation in their faith to stand up to the persecution.

For one of the conferences, we invited 11 seekers, and we had a wonderful time together, exposing them to the word of God in a new setting, challenging them as they challenged us to answer their questions. By the end of the week, nine of them received the Lord as their personal Savior, and they began the journey of faith that has called us all.

Please join our team in praying for the following for upcoming training:

  • Pray for those new believers, that the seeds planted at the conference will grow their faith during this time when they have no direct fellowship with others. The Bible that we have given to them is the only thing they have until they can, hopefully, be welcomed into a house church.
  • Pray for the believers and house church leaders as they come together under the constant threat of persecution, that when they face temptation and threats, they will not lose their faith.
  • Pray for the participants in the upcoming training. Pray that God will be glorified, and everyone will have a safe return to their home.
  • And pray for the teachers that his spirit may guide them.
