Relief for South Sudanese

Many of you gave generously to provide food for those suffering from fighting in South Sudan. Your generosity is saving lives, especially those of pregnant and lactating mothers, old people, disabled, and households supporting internally displaced people.

This short report from our partner ministry in Juba and the photos tell a little of the story. God bless you again for your help for the people of South Sudan.

The leader of our partner ministry, South Sudan AIC, was involved in the relief distribution in Juba and he writes:

Today, the situation in Juba, South Sudan, is quite calm (people can move about in the day, but generally try to get home early before nightfall). The only challenge is that of growing hunger. People we have not reached yet go hungry with only half a meal a day, others completely go without.

An old man told one of our pastors that he had no water for one week. A mother who recently gave birth could not afford water. This is mainly caused by the crippled purchasing power of the people, with the soaring price of food and water. Most families cannot afford either.

Thanks to your gifts, so far we have distributed food to 2,660 households in 12 centers around Juba. Each household received food items of maize flour, beans, oil and salt for one and half months. And all in the love of Jesus.

As you can see from the photos the great the need … and the great appreciation!

Depending on funds we receive, we are now preparing to assist more 1,100 households with food items and 350 others who have land with seeds and agriculture tools.

Thank each of you again for caring for the desperate people in South Sudan!
