Discipleship-Making Movements

Training for Church Planters

We organized a training for church leaders from two regions. We had close to 100 participants, mainly church leaders of the Council of Evangelical Churches in Senegal.

The training was interactive, based on over 35 questions discussed in groups and in plenary. This approach helped the audience contribute and take ownership of what they had learned.

Here are the subjects we discussed: The Kingdom of God; case study of a multiplication movement in China; the doctrine of universal priesthood; the “Go” versus the “Come” church mentality; how to make disciples through discovery groups; the holistic disciple; leadership within Disciple-Making Movements; factors limiting Disciple-Making Movements; workshops by churches; coaching of leaders; structure within DMM, Apostolic teams and strategies.

The challenge from the training is the follow up with trainees and to help them put the teaching into practice. During the training, testimonies on forgiveness touched several leaders. Many others spoke about how they were inspired to more actively pursue discipleship of those they serve.
