An Abusive Marriage Transformed by the Gospel

We were introduced to B* in one of the villages we were doing ministry. She told us that God has done miracles in her life and that she is very grateful to Him. We were curious to hear her testimony, but she would not speak with us, as she comes from a culture that made speaking to men difficult for her. As we began to interact more with her, she started to share more of her life story with us. As she began to share her story, she began to weep. Here is her testimony:

“I come from a non-Christian family. I am married, but the marriage has never been peaceful for me. My husband used to beat me almost every day, and there was nobody around who I could confide in. What added more pain to all this was my son’s response. He started hanging out with a bad group of people and adopting their bad habits. He was ruining his life. I tried to advise him, but he never listened to me.

Days passed by and my situation didn’t change much, and one day I was so depressed that I wanted to end my life. It was at that point I came across a woman who began to talk to me and inquire about my life – it was the first time someone had ever been interested. Gradually, she introduced Jesus Christ to me. She told me that He loved and cared for me, but I could not understand how God could love me so much that he would send His son to die for me. I was told that whoever believes in Jesus and accepts Him as their Lord and Savior would be called children of God. I was thrilled to hear myself called a daughter of God.

The woman from IFCM who shared this wonderful message with me lead me to the Jesus. I was given a Bible, and as I read it more and more my worries, sufferings, and pain were replaced by a new joy in my heart. The Gospel transformed my life. I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord and am now a regular attendee at one of their churches. God is working through my transformation to slowly change my husband and my son. Now I have peace and joy that passes all understanding.
