A Tactless Tongue

THE TACTLESS TONGUE:

My Mouth

“We must understand that extending grace and telling the truth are not mutually exclusive concepts. We can tell the truth tactfully. “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John1:17). Jesus never allowed His graciousness to prevent Him from imparting the truth.” (TYT)

Today train your tongue to speak the truth in love.

My Meditation

Today meditate on Colossians 4:6.

May God help us to speak the truth in love, today and always.

A Harsh Tongue

THE  HARSH TONGUE:

My Mouth

“As a steward of the grace God has extended to us, we must in turn extend that same grace to others. We must cultivate the habit of speaking kind words especially to those whom we feel may not deserve it - isn’t that what grace is all about?” (TYT)  Read Proverbs 31:26.

Today train your tongue to speak words of kindness.

My Meditation

Today meditate on Proverbs 15:1.

May God help us to have the law of kindness on our tongues today and always.

A Know-It-All Tongue

THE KNOW-IT -ALL TONGUE:

My Mouth

“Are you so all-knowing that you cannot refrain from giving unsolicited input? Do you have an unusually high regard for your opinion? Do you regularly use the expression, “You should…?” Please allow me to gently remind you that most emotionally healthy people will resent someone who always assumes he knows what is best for them.” (TYT) The Bible tells us that wise men/women store up knowledge (Proverbs 10:14).

Today train your tongue to be silent even if you know it all and give another the joy and fulfillment of explaining it to you.

My Meditation

Today meditate on Proverbs 12:23.

May God help us to be prudent by not displaying our knowledge today and always.

A Cynical Tongue

THE CYNICAL TONGUE:

My Mouth

“A person who is cynical scorns the motives of others. Cynicism is like venom; it poisons the atmosphere wherever it is present. Resorting to it will also poison your spirit and that of others.” (TYT) Please read the story of David’s cynical brother in 1 Samuel 17:28, 29.

Today avoid using cynical remarks.

My Meditation

Today meditate on Psalm 1:1.

May God help us to be optimistic today and always.

A Belittling Tongue

THE BELITTLING TONGUE:

My Mouth

“Do people feel better about themselves after spending time with you? Or are your expectations so high that you focus on their shortcomings rather than their assets? If someone speaks well of a person you envy, do you follow up with a disparaging remark? Are you so insecure that you can only feel good about yourself by denigrating others?”  (TYT) Try following 1 Thessalonians 5:11.

Today use your tongue to encourage someone. Be a cheerleader.

My Meditation

Today meditate on Ephesians 4:29.

May God help us to inspire someone with our words  today and always.
