Volunteer Spotlight: Ila Swick

Posted on 09 May 2012 · By Kim Kerr, Director of Partners Intl Women

Partners International Women is delighted to introduce our online community to Ila Swick, a registered nurse living in Louisville, Kentucky. As our Volunteer Health Team Leader, Ila regularly travels abroad with a team from PIW to provide training and resources for women pertaining to nutrition, hygiene, maternal health, and other health-related matters relevant to the women’s cultural contexts.

Speaking Out for Those Without a Voice

Look into the eyes of these young women in Calcutta, India, and notice a myriad of emotions: joy at being noticed, concern for their own futures, and perhaps even fear. Why fear, you might ask? Well, read on to learn more about the potential for these young women to be offered as child brides, or in some cases “bride-napped.”  Our hearts compel us to take action on their behalf and so we have been earnestly seeking the right way to speak up for them and countless more in the places where our partners are serving. God has heard their cries and ours on their behalf!

It gives me great pleasure, and even pride -- the right kind of pride, I believe -- to introduce Ms. Teresa Nightingale, Esq. and her co-leader, Ms. Jessica Kerr, Esq. as our new Advocacy Servant Leaders.

The Comfort of the Divine Priest

Posted on 24 Apr 2012 · By Kim Kerr, Director of Partners Intl Women

Let us read our theme verse for this year:

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me (Isaiah 49:16).

The study for this year is divided into three parts:

1. Behold, I have graven thee:
The call of the Divine Artist and my response (January-April 2012)

2.Upon the palm of my hands:
The comfort of the Divine Priest and my response (May-August 2012)

3.Thy walls are continually before me:
The consolation of the Divine Redeemer and my response (September-December 2012)

The Comfort of the Divine Priest

Over the last four months we have focused on our Divine Artist's call, His nature, His artwork, and our response to His great artwork in expression of His love. Over the next four months our focus will shift from our Divine Artist to our Divine Priest.

In Eastern cultures people used to engrave or tattoo the name of the person they loved on

Partners International Women has been blessed to have a new “partner” in our office in West Palm Beach: Our wonderful student intern, Annemarie Beaudin!  She’s been so delightful to work with that we wanted you to get to know her, too, through a brief interview.
