Six Million Dollars of Love: Gift In Kind Program Touches Body, Soul

Posted on 21 Dec 2011 · By Amber Holloway, Communications Manager

Gifts in kind—shipments of medical supplies we send to our ministry partners—saved thousands of lives last year and gave Christian workers the opportunity to share the healing love of Jesus Christ.

In the remote village of Zuo, Liberia, Peter Gray’s young daughter fell terribly ill. With no money for medicine, he cared for her at home, treating her with local herbs.

But she was only getting worse. During a health and awareness trip to Zuo village, our partner’s health workers came across this sick little girl. They took her to their clinic where she was given proper treatment and medicine. Today, she is a healthy and happy girl. “My poverty would have caused my daughter to die,” Peter said, “but I know it is God who brought you my way at the right time.”

Gift In Kind donations multiply 32x to deliver life-saving help

Help Now

Through our Gifts-in-Kind program, sea containers of critically needed medicine, supplies, and medical equipment are shipped to our partners who operate medical outreaches. In many countries where our partners work, certain medicines and equipment simply cannot be found locally or the expense is beyond the ministry’s capacity. Each shipment is valued from $300,000 up to $1,000,000 or more, but the cost to fill and ship each container of these life-saving supplies is just two to five percent of the value of the container. In 2011, with your support, we sent more than six million dollars worth of goods. But more than the dollar value, these medicines are saving lives and winning hearts as they are delivered in the name of Christ.
