Sending a Musician to the Middle East

Posted on 10 Jun 2011 · By Jon Lewis, Former President/CEO

altYesterday, my wife and I said “goodbye” to our son Nathaniel as he boarded the first leg of his journey from Spokane to the Middle East. Now freshly graduated from Whitworth University with a bachelor’s degree in music performance, Nate (as everyone else calls him) has signed up for a short-term ministry assignment with Partners International.

For the first half of his summer, he will be working with our ministry partner in Jordan called Raja al Umam. Among other things, this ministry has a significant work with Jordanian youth among whom Nate will be working. The second half of his summer will be across the Jordan Valley in Israel with the Stephen's Gate ministry. This is a focused outreach to Palestinians. Nate will be helping with a variety of media projects that Stephen's Gate uses to share the Gospel message.

My purpose in sharing this, however, is to highlight the fact that Partners International has an amazing number of opportunities like this available for young and old alike to participate in. The latest list of Global Learning Exchange (GLE) opportunities compiled from our 80-plus ministry partners is over four pages long.  From tutoring English to providing project management mentoring, all of these opportunities are generated by our national partners as valid, needed services they could use.

For more information about GLE needs, feel free to email Bob Savage at BobS@partnersintl.org

And, to learn more about what Nathaniel ends up doing, check out his new blog, A Musician in the Middle East, at http://www.partnersintl.org/blog/nate/.
