Partners International Leadership

Posted on 01 May 2009 · By Amber Holloway, Communications Manager

Partners International is led by an executive team, board of directors, and a team of regional experts stationed throughout the world. Read more about them below.

Executive Leadership

K. Steve Sullins, CEO

Steve Sullins Steve's business experience covers a diverse group of industries, including responsibilities in both the USA and internationally. Most recently, Steve was a McDonald's Corporation Franchisee living in Dallas, Texas with ownership of ten units, which he sold in 2008. Steve was also Co-Founder and Chairman of Operators Reinsurance Company, a Cayman Islands Casualty Company, for Texas-based McDonald's Franchisees.

Previously, he served as the Latin America Area Director for Alcon Laboratories with responsibility for marketing and manufacturing throughout the region.

Yet earlier, he worked for Baxter Laboratories with responsibility for its Spanish start-up subsidiary based in Valencia, Spain. Prior to Spain, Steve held responsibility for the turn-around of Central America operations as General Manager based in San Jose, Costa Rica.

In addition to his business experience, Steve has served as a church Elder, and on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of CAM International, a Hispanic Mission Board based in Dallas, Texas.

Steve and his wife, Sue, have two daughters and two granddaughters.

MR. CARLOS CALDERON, Vice President, International Ministries

Carlos Calderon Carlos grew up in war-torn El Salvador. As a young man, he served as a youth pastor at his church, Iglesia Nazaret, led at the time by Argentinean Luis Bush who later became the President of Partners International and director of the AD2000 movement.

After completing his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas, Carlos returned to El Salvador where he coordinated Mission '84, the first international missions conference in Central America. This conference helped spark a missionary movement across South America.

After marriage, Carlos and his wife returned to Texas where they both earned masters degrees to qualify them to move to Turkey where they served as leaders of a church-planting team among Muslims. This proved to be an invaluable experience for his future role with Partners International as Area Director for the Middle East and North Africa. He served in this role from 1991 to 2006.

Currently, Carlos serves as Vice President of International Ministries directing the work of our more than 100 indigenous ministry partners in 57 countries.

MR. BOB BOWEN, Vice President, Advancement Ministries

Bob Bowen, Vice PresidentBorn and raised in Northern California with a Chinese-American cultural heritage, Bob has a passion for culturally contextualized ministries. Bob graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Psychology/Sociology. Bob’s years of experience in sales and marketing and lay ministry developed into key leadership roles with Young Life and World Vision, as well as with ICFG, the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel where Bob was ordained as a pastor and chaplain.

Bob has traveled the world leading teams in servant leadership, building homes, and disaster relief and development activities.  Bob has been an active member of Rotary International as a Paul Harris fellow and a board member with the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club, a past president of the Issaquah Little League, and past board member of Art with Heart and Friends of Youth non-profit organizations. Bob is married to Janice, and they have two sons, Aaron and Sam.

Area Directors

Our efforts in each of nine regions of the least Christian world are led by an Area Director, an expert in the people, culture, politics, and religion of that region. Based throughout the world in places like Cambodia, Senegal, and Singapore, Area Directors have "on the road" jobs, working alongside our indigenous ministries to develop strategies, set goals, and find the most effective solutions to problems.

Our Area Directors are extremely knowledgeable about Christian ministries for the parts of the world in which they serve and have a wide array of expertise serving as pastors, missionaries, businessmen, and mission leaders.

Their goal, with careful planning and prayer, is to work alongside our partners to see God's Kingdom expanded in the least Christian regions.
