They speak the language. They understand the culture. And they already like the food. Indigenous Christian ministries are the organizations most qualified to plant churches in their own communities.
When persecution strikes, they don’t take the next flight home. They persevere, routinely facing imprisonment and even death.
We are not simply privileged to be their partners—we are humbled and inspired by them.
By funding and empowering them, we help them establish and grow reproducible churches that will continue to multiply for lifetimes to come—leveraging your gift for generations.
All around the world, church planters are serving Christ in places of poverty and persecution. They have many challenges, but basic support for their families and ministries shouldn’t be one of them. On average, it costs just $150 per month or $1,800 per year to provide support for one church planter and his family.
our partners’ training programs teach men and women to be effective ministry workers. The style of training varies from formal to informal, one-day events to multi-year programs. No matter the style, their goal is to equip leaders with the skills they need to understand God’s Word, teach others, and build strong churches. Starting at just $50, you can help equip an up-and-coming leader or a life-long pastor with leadership skills that will help them be effective in ministry.
Persecution of Christians is growing rapidly throughout the world, especially in the areas where Partners International works. Your gift helps persecuted believers with legal fees for their defense in court, cares for their family while they are imprisoned, and helps with transportation to a safe location. Gifts of any amount will help encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ that they are not alone.
Evaluating which ministries we should help takes considerable time and expertise. It requires a deep understanding of the local context and culture, and a sense of where God is at work, who the emerging, visionary indigenous leaders are, and in what ways our investment would bring the most impact. Our Area Ministry Centers are made up of small but experienced teams, led by an Area Director, that serve each of the nine regions of the world where we work. They spend time with local church leaders to identify needs and opportunities and to learn how we can best help them. They also work on organizational development issues so that our partners can grow in their capacity to fulfill their God-given vision. Because of their work, we can be confident that Partners has exceptional partners pursuing effective strategies. Though each Area Director raises a portion of his or her own personal support, some funds are needed to cover office costs and travel expenses.
Our goal is to help our ministry partners develop into successful, sustainable organizations that are transforming their communities for Christ in the hard places of the world. We think of our partnerships in three phases. The first phase is the “Discover” phase where we seek out and assist the next generation of promising mission leaders. These brand new partners that we call New Initiatives have enormous potential to impact God’s Kingdom in a special way. Gifts to this project will allow our team of Area Directors to seek out new partners, get to know them, and provide initial, small investments in their work. Over time, we evaluate whether we should move forward together in a long-term partnership.
